Darn It, Darn It, Darn It
Wednesday, June 7th, 2006…darn it! Problems with an OS update and other stuff have hindered production of today’s exciting installment. So here’s some other chicken-related stuff this week.
Remember the first and best film version of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? (Well, Buton’s version was “Charlie and…,” whatever.) Gene Wilder’s performance as Wonka was an absolutely made-to-order role; By turns sweetly charming and borderline-maniac, sometimes both at once. Naturally, everybody remembers the Chocolate River Boat Ride, which seems to gradually veer though Hell at increasing speed. Menacing images appeared on the tunnel walls — one of which was a chicken getting its head chopped off with a cleaver! (I couldn’t make this out clearly when I was a lad, but I knew it was something nasty.) The folks at Retrocrush have, among many other fun and exciting articles, a swell page devoted to Wonka’s Bad Trip in their list of “100 Scariest Movie Scenes.” They show screencaps of the headchopping scene! Brrrrr:

Boy, that was chilling! Here now is a nice picture of the Evil Genius Penguin from the immortal Wallace and Gromit adventure “The Wrong Trousers.” It’s here because it’s the ‘Wanted’ poster that depicts the penguin in his impenetrable disguise as a chicken! Hold it… something’s not right. Wait, that’s Tux in disguise, I got this from some Linux site, I don’t know where:

And here’s a shot of the imposing villain from the game “City of Heroes.” King Chicken! King Chicken!

But don’t worry, you can change into Super Chicken, to battle King Chicken! (Yeah, right.) This isn’t the great Jay Ward’s creation, this is another one; this costume, among others, are available at Facemakers Incorporated, a company that also offers you the chance to become Super Hot Dog, Super Chili Bean, Super Blood Drop, and other fun guys.

New comic next Wednesday! I hope.

…I’m surprised that you don’t have the collection of KFC’s “Subservient chicken.”
