Walt’s Brain: Break on through
Sunday, September 14th, 2008Despite his appearance, ol’ Strep proves to have plenty of brains! And he has some brawn to back it up, in the form of the big guy who just made his own doorway, there.
Say, everyone knows that Fission Chicken is AKA The Chicken of Tomorrow, but here’s a less successful “Chicken of Tomorrow”… Bladebeak, an incidental character from the awful, sub-Disney, box-office dud cartoon feature Quest for Camelot (Warner, 1998)! I’d never heard of him before either, but the movie-reviewin’ folks at The Agony Booth just posted an in-depth review that fully clarifies just why QFC is not fondly remembered.

Real-Life Vortoxian? The Kluger Agency would like to help name drop your product in the latest pop songs! (They’ve represented Mariah Carey, New Kids on the Blog, Ne-Yo, Fall Out Boy, Method Man, Lady GaGa and Ludacris. Gawrsh!) So they sent an e-mail to the Anti-Advertising Agency to let ‘em know about their hip product-placement service. Only thing is, the Anti-Advertising Agency’s mission is to question and criticize the omnipresent world of ads. So they played along with an ironic reply and posted the original e-mails on the A-A Agency blog. Paul Kluger of the Kluger agency stamps his foot and says he’ll sue. Let’s watch an old classic about brains: The Brain from Planet Arous (1957), with John Agar, who does a bang-up job as the possessed scientist. He is taken over by evil brain Gor from planet Arous (pronounced “Eros” thoughout the movie), who in turn plans to rule the Earth and then his home planet, but good brain Vol helps out by possessing Agar’s dog and giving helpful advice to his fiancee.
Let’s make it a double-feature with It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958), predecessor to Ridley Scott’s Alien. Pretty scary for a 1950s critter. And get a load of all the armament the space crew is packing… pistols, grenades, bazookas - they came loaded for bear, I’ll tell ya!
