Yes, it’s our old friends the Votoxians making another appearance. They are a race of cybernetic marketing experts; they have, over time, replaced more and more bodily parts with artificial substitutes (so that they might be better salespeople), eventually leaving their brains as the only organic part remaining. They see nothing wrong with making and selling movies like Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Scary, isn’t it?

Here is another all-time science fiction classic: The Thing from Another World (1951)! It’s such a well-regarded favorite, there’s no real need to describe it; why not look at this review over at Fantastic Movie Musings and Ramblings?

The 1982 version by John Carpenter is quite a different movie; in some ways it’s closer to the original story “Who Goes There?” by John W. Campbell… in that the alien critter goes through some heavy physical changes. Here are some highlights:

And speaking of horrible critters, here’s an eerie 1907 French short: Le Cochon Danseur! (The Dancing Pig!) Look at the pig’s close-up expression at the end! Aiee!
