Walt’s Brain: Powering Up
Sunday, October 19th, 2008Our Vortoxian friends, deprived of sufficient neck fuel to fly about, are reduced to hopping around when they somebody (or some thing) that might help them.
Of course, there’s also an updated science fiction feature below the banners!
By the way, I just whipped this up and put it in the Gallery:

This week, we take a couple of trips to Venus; here is First Spaceship on Venus (1960). This is an East German/Polish production that takes a truly international crew of astronauts to a rather spooky version of Venus. Why not read this really great review over at The Bad Movie Report?
And here is a goofier take on the subject: Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women (1968)! This is a re-edited and dubbed version of the Soviet film Planeta Bur (1962). (Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet (1965) had been an earlier reversion.) It’s an early job by director Peter Bogdanovich! Produced by Roger Corman! Shots of Mamie Van Doren and other girls (in clamshell bikinis) represent the telepathic inhabitants of Venus! This was released the same year as 2001: A Space Odyssey!

Love that Normann pic! Nice to see the Gnostic Gnu in color there…also, looking forward to seeing what the Vortox guys pull once they get rolling here.
