<p>Let&#8217;s look at some more monster horror chiller stuff! Here are scenes with the animated beasties from <strong>Jack the Giant Killer</strong> (1962). This fun kid&#8217;s adventure was made after the Schneer/Harryhausen film <strong>Seventh Voyage of Sinbad</strong> was a hit. Producer Edward Small had passed on that movie, and ended up kicking himself for it. So he made his own adventure flick with <strong>Seventh Voyage</strong>&#8217;s director (Nathan Juran), hero (Kerwin Matthews) and bad guy (Torin Thatcher). The stop-motion critters are early work of Jim Danforth. Here&#8217;s Comoran abducting the princess, and soon thereafter fighting Jack:</p>
<p><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/IB_gUQwmIVE" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"><br />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IB_gUQwmIVE" /></object></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s two-headed Galligantua fighting a sea monster. The sea monster is supposed to be &#8220;good,&#8221; so I guess that&#8217;s why it&#8217;s friendly-looking:</p>
<p><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/p9w41ylDYDA" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"><br />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/p9w41ylDYDA" /></object></p>
<p>(At about 08 seconds, you can see a surface gauge appear for a frame:)</p>
<p><img id="image256" src="http://www.fissionchicken.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/Jack_gauge.jpg" alt="Jack gauge" /></p>
<p>And a thrilling battle between Jack and the dragon:</p>
<p><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/UUa_g0xfsTo" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"><br />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UUa_g0xfsTo" /></object></p>
<p>And if you&#8217;re really really interested, here&#8217;s a pre-production test that shows early versions of Galligantua and the sea monster:</p>
<p><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/iNq_5JQvr14" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"><br />

<p>There was this cool weird British science fiction kidvid early 1960s show, <strong>Space Patrol</strong> (called Planet Patrol in the US because there had already been a show with the name &#8220;Space Patrol&#8221;)&#8230; featuring the Galasphere ship that made a distinctive sound, marionette characters, some strange aliens, and some electronic music that was ahead of its time. Here&#8217;s a clip of an episode; you can find out more at <a href="http://homepages.tesco.net/~space.patrol/SpacePatrol/Home.htm"><strong>Space Patrol - The Website.</strong></a></p>

<p>One of my favorite horror films is the 1973 classic <strong>The Creeping Flesh</strong> with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. Here&#8217;s the part where the monster shows up!</p>
<p><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/eKvaJiTBHNs" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"><br />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/eKvaJiTBHNs" /></object></p>
<p>And while we&#8217;re on the subject of classic horror, here&#8217;s the the trailer from the great <strong>Horror of Dracula</strong> (1958)&#8230; perhaps the greatest Dracula movie ever. Starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. Lee&#8217;s Dracula was no wimpy Anne Rice art-gang sissy vampire; he was a real no-nonsense fella!</p>

<p>It&#8217;s about time we had another vintage science fiction movie trailer! <strong>Journey to the Seventh Planet!</strong> 1962! With John Agar! Directed by Sidney W.Pink!</p>
<p><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/0-Cix53XRVs" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"><br />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0-Cix53XRVs" /></object></p>
<p>How &#8217;bout some classic science fiction TV? <strong>Captain Scarlet!</strong> (Captain Scarlet!) This 1967 series from Sylvia and Gerry Anderson and Reg Hill starred a hero who could come back from the dead, thanks to the power of &#8220;retro-metabolism&#8221;! Part 1 of the intro episode:</p>
<p><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/ae7vJpZiOf8" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"><br />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ae7vJpZiOf8" /></object></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s Part 2:</p>
<p><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/f-MckhgPcL8" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"><br />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/f-MckhgPcL8" /></object></p>
<p>And Part 3! Wow!</p>
<p><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/C3P_OjSEI8E" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent"><br />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/C3P_OjSEI8E" /></object></p>
<p>Boy&#8230; that &#8220;retro-metabolism&#8221; must work pretty good &#8212; Captain Scarlet falls like a mile to the ground, and he recovers! (They say it&#8217;s 800 feet, but it looks like a mile&#8230; ol&#8217; CS must&#8217;ve been pretty smooshed-up when he hit the pavement. They probably had to pry him out of his crater!)

<p>Want something weirder? How about an episode of <strong>Bump In The Night</strong>, a swell stop-motion animated SATAM show (that sort of got lost when Disney bought ABC)&#8230; &#8220;Bumpy&#8221; should&#8217;ve been the Rat Fink of the 1990s. Here&#8217;s &#8220;Night of the Living Bread&#8221; Part 1:</p>
